Now people from Myanmar are discussing about the topic "Should Aung San Suu Kyi attend UN general assembly or not?"
So, we mingalapar team makes some notes about "United Nations General Assembly".
What is United Nations General Assembly?
The General Assembly is one of the six main organs of the United Nations, the only one in which all Member States have equal representation: one nation, one vote. All 193 Member States of the United Nations are represented in this unique forum to discuss and work together on a wide array of international issues covered by the UN Charter, such as development, peace and security, international law, etc. In September, all the Members meet in the General Assembly Hall in New York for the annual General Assembly session.
Who usually attends?
All 193 members states of the United Nations are members of the General Assembly. Further, the United Nations General Assembly may grant observer status to an international organization, entity or non-member state, which entitles the entity to participate in the work of the United Nations General Assembly, though with limitations.
Current Session (72nd UN general assembly)
The session will open on Tuesday, 12 September 2017 at 3:00 p.m.
