A total of 15 earthquakes, including the January 12 shallow 6.0-magnitude quake, have struck around Phyu, a town in Taungoo District, Bago Region within two weeks, says Dr Yin Myo Htwe, deputy director from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
“Until now from January 1, many earthquakes were recorded. Tremors usually follow after a strong earthquake. The Sagaing Fault is a major fault in Myanmar, and one of the major faults in the world, being focused on by earthquake experts from around the world,” said Dr Yin Myo Htwe.
