Mont Popa is a old volcano and it's situated 1518 metres above sea level, and located in central Myanmar about 50 km southeast of Bagan. It is known as a pilgrimage site, with numerous temples at the top.

You feel every one of the 777 steps climbing to the top, partly because of the burn in your legs. Partly because of the constant threat of attack from the hundreds of monkeys who live along the staircase, seemingly guarding it, army-like, from any enemy invasion.
