As the number of foreigners visiting Myanmar is increasing, festivities, displays and recreational places which can attract the foreigners are also increasing year by year.
The biggest attraction for foreigners are Myanmar traditional presentations and arts as well as places where they can relax comfortably.
Places where most foreigners usually visit in Yangon are the famous Shwedagon Pagoda, galleries at Bogyoke Aung San Market and Karaweik Palace, National Museum and other places of interest where they can find wood carving, puppetry, traditional music and arts. Some foreigners also look for places where they can spend their evenings peacefully.
For those who want to spend time enjoying the paintings, there are many places such as Lawkanat Art Gallery which is located at Lower Pansodan street in Kyauktada township, New Treasure Art Gallery located in Than Lwin Road in Bahan township, Gallery 65 on Yaw Min Gyi street in Dagon township, Pansodan Scene Gallery located at Upper Pansodan street in Kyauktada township and Yangon Gallery located in People’s Square in Dagon township where exhibitions related to painting, woodcarving and arts are displayed.
If one would like to learn and enjoy the Myanmar traditional puppetry art, there is a place by the name of Htwe Oo Myanmar Traditional Puppet Theatre which is situated at No. 12, Yama Street in Ahlone Township.
At Htwe Oo Myanmar Traditional Puppet Theatre, puppetry performance is performed daily between 5pm and 6pm as long as there are at least two in the audience. For special puppetry performance shows, there should be at least five spectators.
Anybody can register for the puppet show one day ahead, or can also visit www.htweoomyanmar.com,” says puppetry professional U Khin Maung Htwe (U Htwe).
