Yangon is dubbed as the “Garden City of the East” with its verdant tropical gardens, colorful flowers and lush trees, which have been the magnificent result of northeasterly monsoon rains that fall in the city for several months. Location

The Kandawgyi Nature Park is located at Natmauk Road and Kandawgyi Kanpat Road. Its serene beauty will definitely delight photographers as it delivers picturesque dawns cloaked in morning mist and golden sunsets dipped in hues of red. Opening Hours

Kandawgyi opens every day from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., with cultural shows for the visitors that are held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can find a wide selection of lovely flora, huge trees and the wonderful lake scene in the area. Playground for children, a mini zoo, souvenir shops, an orchid garden and numerous restaurants are also housed within the park. Near the Kandawgyi Lake is the Karaweik Hall where unique works of art are on exhibit and waiting to be explored.

 

The lake itself is artificial and its waters come from Inya Lake. It was created to give safe and clean water supply throughout the city during the British colonial rule. The best way to gallivant around this park is by foot, so better wear your most comfortable pair of walking or running shoes for an entire day of activities. Also, wear weather-appropriate clothes—light and absorbent types for summer and protective waterproof types for the monsoon season. Bring enough water to replenish your body’s supply.

 

You will find numerous lakeside restaurants nearby and these serve local food at affordable prices so grab the chance and try the unique cuisine of the city.
