Gay and Lesbian travellers
Homosexuality is illegal in Myanmar,
and although these laws are rarely enforced, they can carry punishments of up to life imprisonment for both men and women. Still, attitudes towards homosexuality in Myanmar are conservative. In part, this is because many Burmese see homosexuality as a punishment for actions in a past life. Cruising and gay venues tend to be secretive and concealed. Despite transgender performers at nat festivals, you will not encounter them in other parts of Myanmar.
Public attitude however does, slowly, seem to be shifting which has had serious implications regarding HIV treatment in the country.
