The most travelled and touristy stretch of the Ayeyarwady is between Mandalay and Bagan.
Then, twice-weekly, a government ferry shuttles between Mandalay and Bagan on Ayeyarwady river. It departs around 7am and arrives the following day. Sleeping quarters are shared amongst monks, soldiers, families and animals. The river’s name is written Ayeyarwady or Irrawaddy.
Moreover, you’ll need to bring your own mosquito netting, bug repellent, and a blanket.
