Myanmar authorities consider limiting hotels on southern islands

The Ministry of Hotel and Tourism and the Tanintharyi Region government are discussing a policy to limit the number of hotels to just one for each island of the coast of Tanintharyi, a regional official has revealed to Myanmar Times.

According to Tanintharyi Region Minister of Resources and Environmental Conservation U Hla Htwe, a meeting was held on Tuesday in Nay Pyi Daw to discuss sustainable tourism in Taninthayi, and among the topics discussed was the possible limit on the number of hotels on the region’s islands.
