In November 2016 the Yangon Region Government gave the go-ahead for a new Night Market in the city, located on the famous Strand Road. The plan was budgeted at K1.8 billion, and promised to add to the city’s recreational appeal.
Just over two years later, and those grand plans have failed to impress. Being sandwiched between two major roads – Strand Road and the expressway – it’s difficult to enjoy the atmosphere amidst the deafening horn blasts of passing trucks, pollution and dirty streets.
