Nat Ma Taung (Mount Victoria)

Must See Nat Ma Taung (Mount Victoria)

Nat Ma Taung

The hills north of Mrauk-U mark the southern borders of Chin State, and this remote region is covered with lush valleys, thick forests and enormous mountains.

Few tourists travel here, and the lack of infrastructure makes the Chin State Myanmar's poorest province. Those who do visit, and this is no easy task, head almost immediately for Nat Ma Taung (Mount Victoria) which stands3,053 metres tall (10,016ft).

The mountain has its own microclimate, flora and fauna. A journey from Bagan to the summit and back again takes at least six days. Accredited tour agents can help sort the paperwork, but you will need to allow for at least a month of time to ensure you have all the necessary permits.
